Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum Launches Interactive Digital Guide on Bloomberg Connects
CARSON CITY, Nev. — The Stewart Indian School Cultural Center & Museum today announced its official launch on Bloomberg Connects, a free digital guide to cultural organizations around the world.
“This is an exciting opportunity to join other cultural institutions around the globe and expand our ability to tell the story of the Stewart Indian School and to celebrate contemporary Native American culture to a global audience and in many different languages,” said Dr. Joshua Bonde, museum director.
The digital guide allows global and local audiences to explore the museum’s rich history, art, and stories directly from their mobile devices. It offers a deeper look into the experiences of the Native American children who were connected to the school from 1890 to 1980, while highlighting the continued rich culture of Native American people and their contemporary contributions to American culture.
“I’m excited that students, educators, and lifelong learners across the world now have a place to learn the truth about Indian boarding schools through the voices of the elders, alums, and families who lived it,” said Michelle Bellard of Bellard Consulting LLC, a museum volunteer who oversaw the implementation of the digital guide. “This knowledge will build cultural awareness and empathy, encouraging all of us to contribute to a more understanding society.”

The new digital guide provides a highly interactive way to experience the campus, whether visitors are exploring the historic grounds in person or browsing from home.
