Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe Chair, Janet Davis
When Janet Davis was elected as Chair in 2020, she was second chairwoman ever elected in all of history in her tribe.
She has been quoted as saying, “I just want to be involved with our community and help our people do better. That’s my passion and always will be my passion. That’s what inspired me to run for the position.”
Davis, a former elementary school teacher for the Washoe County School District. She previously served on the Pyramid Lake High School Board and was formerly on the committee for the Indian Health Services, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services responsible for providing health services to Native Americans.
Davis is also a well-known voting rights advocate who helped establish a polling site on the reservation.
No matter her role, Chair Davis is always working for her people’s rights.
